For all tryout participants for the 2024/2025 Season:

This year, we have some changes to our tryout sessions.

1) The rink is closed off to parents and we are directing everyone to Bubba’s if they want to watch. This gives the evaluators the freedom to sit in the middle where we can better monitor the players on both sides of the rink. Parents are not permitted to congregate or watch tryouts from the lower lobby or around the perimeter of the rink.

Parents are welcome to watch tryouts at Bubba’s.

2) LiveBarn will be closed during those tryout times.

3) Bubba’s will be open during the tryouts. We have given them a copy of the tryout schedule.

4) On the first tryout day, check into to the registration desk to receive your pinnie for the tryout sessions. Make sure you wear the color assigned (black or white) and that the number is visible at all times. Refrain from tucking the pinnie in where the number might be obscured. This is how evaluators are able to accurately identify you on the ice. You will take that pinnie with you and bring back on the second tryout day wearing the same color. After the last day, you will turn in your pinnie at the registration desk. We should have a bin outside the room for you to leave them.

5) If you are a goalie trying out for a 10u or 12u Birth Year team (2015, 2014, 2013, 2012). You will need to attend three sessions: the Goalie tryout on Friday, 4/5 and also the BY tryout dates on the weekend of 4/6-4/7.

6) Please bring a print out of your 2024-2025 USA Hockey Number if you are able to. Registration for the next season should open on April 1, 2024. Players new to the organization also need to bring a copy (copy only) of their birth certificate. Do not bring originals!

7) The final rosters will be posted on our website (www.southpittsburghhockey.org). Please be patient with the tryout process. We will be posting final team rosters as soon as call backs and evaluations are finished. Rosters will be posted as feasibly quickly as possible, but in some circumstances, it may take a couple days longer to post.

Remember that tryouts are a stressful time for your players that are coming. Please remember that coaches are doing their best, be positive, be supportive, don’t add pressure, be realistic, don’t worry about status, and remember above all, it’s just a game. Please do not engage in behavior that will interfere with the coaches on the ice or evaluators in the stands otherwise you will be asked to leave.

Thanks and good luck to your players in tryouts!
