All Tryout Dates

All:

Please read for tryout instructions.

1) The rink is closed off to parents and we are directing everyone to Bubba’s if they are open. This gives the evaluators the freedom to sit in the middle where we can better monitor the players on both sides of the rink. Parents are not permitted to congregate or watch tryouts from the lower lobby or around the perimeter of the rink.

* For Bubba’s, Sunday 4/13. They will be open at 9am with a breakfast menu.

2) BlackBear TV is not broadcasting during the tryouts.

3) On the first tryout day, check into to the registration desk to receive your pinnie for the tryout sessions. Make sure you wear the color assigned (black or white) and that the number is visible at all times. Refrain from tucking the pinnie in where the number might be obscured. This is how evaluators are able to accurately identify you on the ice. You will take that pinnie with you and bring back on the second tryout day wearing the same color. After the last day, you will turn in your pinnie at the registration desk. We should have a bin outside the room for you to leave them.

4) Please bring a print out of your 2025-2026 USA Hockey Number unless you already used it in registration. Registration for the next season is open at https://membership.usahockey.com/. Players new to the organization also need to bring a copy (copy only) of their birth certificate. Do not bring originals!

5) REMINDER FOR PLAYERS: All players must use the designated locker rooms for your group. Please review the schedule on the flat screens at Printscape. Do not dress in the lobby!

6) The final rosters will be posted on our website (www.southpittsburghhockey.org). Please be patient with the tryout process. We will be posting final team rosters as soon as call backs and evaluations are finished. Rosters will be posted as feasibly quickly as possible, but in some circumstances, it may take a couple days longer to post. If you did not make a birth year roster, you are automatically entered in the 14u or 16u General tryout. You will receive a new pinnie at this tryout.

7) All 14u-19u goalies (BY or General) need to attend both the goalie tryout on Friday, 4/11 and their team (BY or General) tryout. They can keep their pinnie throughout their team tryouts.

8) 14U, 16U, and 18U General players that did not select the BY tryout and fee just go to the 14u General, 16u General, or 18u General tryout next week.

9) Attendance Requirement & Missed Tryouts
Players are expected to attend all scheduled tryout sessions. If a player is unable to attend due to illness, travel, or other sports commitments, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify the organization in advance by emailing orginfo@southpittsburghhockey.org. Speaking only with a coach is not sufficient — proper notice must be submitted via email.

We require email notification so there is a clear date and time stamp on the request to the organization. This ensures fairness and transparency when reviewing absences. While we will do our best to accommodate when notified ahead of time, unreported absences may result in the player not being considered for a roster spot.

– FINALLY-

Remember that tryouts are a stressful time for your players that are coming. Please remember that coaches are doing their best, be positive, be supportive, don’t add pressure, be realistic, don’t worry about status, and remember above all, it’s just a game. Please do not engage in behavior that will interfere with the coaches on the ice or evaluators in the stands otherwise you will be asked to leave.

Thanks and good luck to your players in tryouts!
